呢類做法而家叫做 GEO(Generative Engine Optimization,生成式引擎優化)。
- 結構化資料(schema.org)。
GEO checklist

How do you get ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews to recommend your company? A GEO primer for SMEs
There is no trick, and no special tag, that makes AI recommend your company. Google states plainly that there are no extra requirements for appearing in AI Overviews: the conditions are the same as for ordinary search, namely being indexed and offering helpful content. What actually makes the difference is whether your site offers concrete facts that can be quoted directly, and whether other sites mention you.
This work is now called GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). Below we use our own site, muduopro.com, to show what a small business can do.
How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO aims to rank high in search results; GEO aims to be quoted and recommended when AI answers a question. The foundations are the same, because Google's AI Overviews draw on search results. The difference is that AI extracts: it prefers a clearly stated fact such as "from HK$5,000" or "delivered in as little as 2 days" over a paragraph of adjectives.
Google's official page, AI features and your website, says there are no additional requirements or special optimizations needed to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. A page only needs to be indexed and eligible to show a snippet in Search to be a possible supporting link. (Information as of October 2026.)
Step 1: Make sure Google has indexed you
A page that is not indexed will never be quoted by AI Overviews. Many new sites are stuck here without knowing it.
- Search Google for
site:yourdomainand see how many pages appear. - Open Google Search Console, verify the site and submit your sitemap.
- Check the Pages report for pages that are not indexed and why.
- For important pages, use URL Inspection and click "Request indexing".
A few weeks after launching muduopro.com, Search Console showed only 2 of our 10 pages indexed. New sites take time, but you can at least make sure every page has real content, so Google considers it worth indexing.
Step 2: Write facts that AI can quote
Look at what AI Overviews say when they recommend other companies: usually "from HK$X", "delivered in X days", "founded in X", "100% source code ownership". Every one of these is a sentence written directly on the company's own site.
Your site needs:
- Pricing: at least a starting price. If every page says "contact us for a quote", AI has little to recommend.
- Delivery time: how long work usually takes.
- What you do and do not do: name services in the words customers search for. Our site used to never say "web design", so a search for "Hong Kong web design company" would never find us.
- Why choose you: a list of specific, verifiable points.
- FAQ: question and answer, with the conclusion first.
Never invent numbers. AI and customers both check, and a wrong figure costs you credibility.
Step 3: Make your site readable by machines
What people can read is not always what machines can read. Three technical points are worth doing:
- Do not depend on JavaScript to show content. Our site used to fill in all its text with JavaScript, so the raw HTML had empty headings and paragraphs. Many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, which means they saw a home page with no words. We changed it to write the text in at build time.
- Structured data (schema.org). State in a machine-readable format who your company is, what services you offer, the starting price and your FAQ. Every page on our site carries Organization, Service and FAQPage data.
- Titles and descriptions should include service and location, for example "Hong Kong AI automation, web design and app development", not just the company name.
As for llms.txt, a site summary file written for AI that many people now discuss: it is a format proposed by the industry in 2024, not an official standard, and no major AI platform has confirmed reading it. We publish one because it costs almost nothing, but we would not treat it as a priority.
Step 4: Get other sites to mention you
This step matters most and takes longest. Which company AI recommends depends heavily on how the wider web talks about it: how many sites link to it, whether people review it, whether directories and media mention it. Your own site praising itself only goes so far.
- Google Business Profile: create one and ask customers for reviews. Local search and AI Overviews both draw on it.
- Links you control: your apps, other sites and social profiles should all link back to your company site. We added "Built by MuduoPro" to the footer of the AceSpeller site.
- Industry directories and chambers of commerce: Hong Kong has many business directories and member listings.
- Share useful content: post condensed versions of your articles on LinkedIn and in Facebook groups, and link to them when answering questions.
Step 5: Keep writing articles that answer questions
AI Overviews often quote "how much does … cost", "how to choose …" and "how to …" articles, because they answer the user's question directly. Make each article answer one question customers really ask, give the answer in the first two or three sentences, then explain. For example, we wrote How much does a company website cost in Hong Kong? and How much does AI automation cost a Hong Kong SME?.
Consistency matters more than volume: a few articles a month for six months beats ten in one month and then nothing.
Common misconceptions
- "Just add more tags": Google ignores meta keywords, and stuffing keywords gets penalised.
- "Someone can guarantee AI will recommend you": nobody can. Google decides when AI Overviews appear and whom they cite, and many searches never show one at all.
- "GEO and SEO need separate work": the foundations are identical. Do SEO well and most of GEO is already done.
GEO checklist for SMEs
- Search Console verified, sitemap submitted, main pages indexed
- Pricing (a starting price), delivery time and scope written on the site
- Services named in the words customers search for, including location
- An FAQ whose answers lead with the conclusion
- Text that does not depend on JavaScript to appear
- Structured data for the company, services and FAQ
- A Google Business Profile with customer reviews
- Other sites, social profiles and apps linking back to your site
- Articles that answer real questions, written every month
Where do people usually get stuck?
- You cannot tell whether your content depends on JavaScript to appear
- Your structured data has an error and Google quietly ignores it, without you knowing
- You are unsure which concrete facts to publish so that AI will quote them
- You write a few articles and then run out of time
